Daniel J. Mueller is an early pioneer of the executive coaching industry. He has 14 years’ experience as President and CEO of a senior executive coaching and advisory firm and 11 years as CEO of three professional services organizations. He serves as President and CEO for SOLIDexecutive, Inc.
Mueller’s experience and background in organization design and development (OD) has shaped his coaching approach, creating custom-tailored solutions which are practical and bottom-line focused. This resonates with senior executives, who want tangible, measurable improvements in their executives’ and organization’s performance.
From 1990 to 1996, Mueller served as President and CEO of Solid Foundation International Inc., a national OD consultancy. He added executive assessment and coaching offerings, tripling revenues and improving margins by almost 25% in less than 2 years. Mueller coached over 150 leaders and conducted more than 60 qualitative 360° assessments. He designed quantitative leadership and management skill analysis tools, created expert systems, and wrote Training Skills for Leaders, a book on incidental workplace learning and executive-as-coach effectiveness. He also wrote Service BUILDS Sales, a core text in the coach-the-coach curriculum of SOLIDexecutive’s coach training program. He has published more than a dozen other rapid-read books, over 15 multi-day executive development courses, and numerous white papers and articles.
From 1986 to 1990, Mueller was President and CEO of MAI, a regional management consultancy acquired in 1990 by Organizational Leadership and Development Inc. This role gave him advanced education and experience in organizational design and development.
From 1982 to 1986, Mueller was President and CEO of Wellness Consultants Inc., a management training and development firm specializing in the healthcare industry. He added management consulting offerings, expanded services into other vertical markets, grew revenue by more than 45% year over year, and brought in a new President as successor. During this time, he gained expertise in the behavioral sciences, learned curriculum design, and developed a comprehensive executive coaching methodology. Mueller began his career in 1975 as a personal trainer and fitness coach.
