Marcus Jonesi has more than 24 years of executive leadership experience, including 14 years in COO, CIO and VP of Finance roles and nine years as an independent consultant specializing in organizational design, development and change management.
Jonesi is a Partner with SOLIDexecutive, Inc. and the VP of Finance and Technology for VitalPet, a Texas-based, start-up consolidator. There, he provides executive leadership for the accounting, finance and IT functions.
Jonesi is known for his strong operational, accounting and overall business acumen. He balances his highly detail-oriented, hands-on approach with the ability to drive overall strategy from the CEO’s office. Jonesi is currently leading the integration of newly acquired businesses.
From 2007 to 2011, Jonesi led internal audit and technology for one of the largest agencies within Harris County, Texas, the third most populous county in the United States. He served as the strategic liaison with other county agencies and was responsible for chairing ad hoc teams of executives tasked with designing internal programs to drive overall effectiveness.
From 2002 through 2007, Jonesi managed the Houston office of Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson (LGBS), at 1,400 employees the largest law firm of its type in North America. In this role, he provided executive leadership for all the firm’s non-legal functions. Jonesi co-developed the first multi-variable revenue forecasting model and oversaw the multi-year development and implementation of an Oracle database application to replace the legacy system of LGBS’s largest client. The firm’s rapid growth during that time period was directly attributable to his work.
Prior to his executive role at LGBS, Jonesi served as COO/CAO of two separate organizational development consultancies. He was with Public/Private Strategies (PPS) from 1996 to 2002 and with Performance Enhancement Group (PEG) from 1990 to 1996. PPS specializes in business development and administrative law (lobbying), and Jonesi was responsible for providing executive leadership for all financial and administrative functions of the firm. He also coordinated the efforts of the various teams of consultants, legislative aides, and client personnel brought together for legislative and regulatory initiatives. PEG specializes in HR development, training and process reengineering. There, Jonesi provided executive leadership for all financial and administrative functions, and represented the firm in its business development initiatives and partnerships.
From 1985 to 1989, he was VP of Finance and Administration and CIO for Title USA Corporation, a 1,700-employee title insurer. Jonesi chaired teams of executives to develop the industry’s first system of uniform policies and procedures. He designed internal controls and the monitoring of independent agent networks, which ultimately became the industry standard. Jonesi also managed all of the company’s investor reporting functions.
Jonesi graduated summa cum laude from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a B.A. in business economics. He was awarded an Elijah Watt Sells Certificate for scoring in the top 100 in the United States on the May 1981 CPA Exam. Jonesi began his career in 1981 at Ernst & Young, where he served as a management consultant.
